Working Overtime&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As a leader, balancing your individual responsibilities and your responsibilities to your team might seem like an impossible task. Many times, people approach a leadership role assuming that there will never be enough time in the day. They accept that being spread thin is just part of the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To prove this doesn\u2019t have to be the case, we\u2019re busting a few common workplace myths that often lead people to overwork!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Myth #1. If I work longer hours, I\u2019ll get more work done.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The longer you work, the more tasks you will finish \u2014 this sounds logical, right? How much of that late night work is <strong>valuable<\/strong>, though? Overworking yourself often leads to an increase in mistakes, lower quality results, and a decrease in innovation. If your brain is constantly checking off tasks, it never has the time to rest, reset, and recoup the energy to creatively brainstorm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This mindset of \u201clonger hours = more productivity\u201d can also negatively affect your team. As a leader, you set the tone for your team. They look to you for <strong>how much time<\/strong> they should spend on an assignment and <strong>what mentality<\/strong> they should approach a task with. If you constantly rush to finish a task, appear stressed in the workplace, and respond negatively to others\u2019 requests, your team will notice. They might even begin to adopt these behaviors.
