    •    How do I activate my new Debit Mastercard®?
      Simply dial 1-877-744-2274 with your new Debit Mastercard® information to activate.
    •    What are Chip Cards?
      The chip contains your card number, name, and other account information. There is no other personal information stored on the chip. Due to security in the chip, every transaction you make is unique, which makes it extremely difficult for the card to be copied or counterfeited. Your chip card will also have the usual magnetic stripe on the back so that you can continue using your card while merchants are transitioning to new chip card terminals.
    •    What is my PIN number?
      The PIN on your chip-enabled card is the same PIN as on your previous card. If you forgot what your PIN is please call Member services at 215-788-5270 or visit your local Inspire FCU branch to request a new one.
    •    What are the benefits of chip technology?
      The embedded microchip provides dynamic transaction security features and other capabilities not possible with traditional magnetic stripe cards. A chip card is extremely difficult to counterfeit.
    •    Why is my card being upgraded to a chip card?
      Chip technology is already used in other countries and now in the U.S. Your new chip card provides an extra level of security and is easier to use at international locations.
    •    How is this card different from a magnetic stripe card?
      A chip card looks just like a traditional card with an embedded chip in addition to the standard magnetic stripe on the back of the card. Rather than swiping your card, you will insert your chip card into the card terminal to complete the transaction. Your card also has contactless capabilities so you can tap your card at checkout when given the option.
    •    How does chip technology work?
      Every transaction with a chip card has unique data in it. Chip transactions are dynamic, not static like magnetic stripe cards. That is why if someone were able to intercept one of your chip transactions they would not be able to use that information again. This stops fraudsters from being able to create counterfeit chip cards.
    •    Where can I use my chip card?
      Use your chip card at the exact same merchants you do now—by inserting the card into card terminals that are chip enabled or swiping your card at merchant locations that have not yet switched to chip-enabled card terminals. You can also continue to use your card as you did before for online payments, telephone payments, and at ATMs.
    •    Why are you replacing my Visa® card with a Mastercard®?
      We made the decision to partner with Mastercard as our Inspire FCU debit card issuer as part of our ongoing commitment to continuously improving the benefits and services we deliver to our members. Your no-cost upgrade to the new Inspire FCU Mastercard is a demonstration of this commitment.
    •    Why does my new card contain a microchip?
      Inspire FCU is moving to chip technology because it provides more security and ease of use in other countries and become standard in the U.S.
    •    Will I continue to enjoy free ATM access?
      Yes! You can use your new Inspire FCU Debit Mastercard to make unlimited surcharge free transactions at more than 30,000 Co-Op Network ATMs. There is a $2 fee for foreign ATM transactions.
    •    Can I keep my old card instead?
      No, your current card is being discontinued, so to enjoy uninterrupted service, it’s important to activate and begin using your new Inspire FCU Mastercard as soon as it arrives.
    •    Can I get additional cards for other family members?
      Yes, additional cards are available. To add authorized users to your account, just inquire at any branch or call 215-788-5270.
